Charlotte Amalie High School student Ta’Mya Davis won first place in the senior division of the 2025 Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Foundation for the Caribbean Children’s Essay Competition, chosen from student entries throughout the islands, including runners up from Antigua & Barbuda and Belize.
The competition theme invited students to reflect on the following prompt: “If I were a cruise passenger, what would I like to see or do in my country.” Ta’Mya’s winning essay impressed judges with its creativity, storytelling, and representation of the unique culture and experiences of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
