H.E. Yenielys Vilma Regueiferos Linares has been accepted as Cuba’s new ambassador to the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). Upon accepting her accreditation, OECS Director General Dr. Didacus Jules thanked Cuba for maintaining remarkably consistent relations with the OECS built on respect and solidarity.
Cuba and the OECS partners have strengthened bilateral cooperation despite many challenges, delivering significant humanitarian benefits. Cooperation has included Cuban medical assistance during COVID-19, educational scholarships, and hurricane recovery support.
A strong focus on economic development partnership among OECS Member States and the Kingdom of Morocco was the highlight of OECS Economic Promotion Week, June 22-26, in Morocco.
The participating OECS member states, represented through the embassies of the Eastern Caribbean states in Morocco, included Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Speaking for the OECS, Ambassador Ian Queeley reaffirmed that “the relationship between the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States and the Kingdom of Morocco is one built not only on friendship, but on shared aspirations for sustainable economic growth, innovation, investment, and South-South cooperation.” Over the course of the week, participants engaged with a wide range of Moroccan public and private sector institutions.
Further strengthening ties between Africa and the Caribbean, OECS has announced the appointment of Ms. Aisha Maina, chief executive officer of Aquarian Consult Limited, as OECS strategic advisor for Africa-Caribbean cooperation. In her advisory mandate, Maina will work directly with the Office of the Director General to guide policy frameworks and operational strategies that unlock tangible, mutual economic benefits.
