Diana Russell Award Recognizes Calder’s pioneering work and dedication to improving the safety, efficiency, and reliability of yacht electrical systems.
Caribbean Compass contributor Nigel Calder has been named a 2024 award recipient from the prestigious Cruising Club of America for his significant contributions to yacht electrical and mechanical system innovations and safety.
Calder, who received the 2024 Diana Russell Award for Innovation, is an author, editor, longtime cruising sailor and the co-founder of BoatHowTo.com, an online boat engine and electrical systems instruction and troubleshooting platform.
“The award recognizes innovation in sailing design, methodology, education, training, safety, and the adventurous use and enjoyment of the sea,” the CCA announcement states. “Calder’s achievements exemplify the spirit of this award, and the CCA is honored to acknowledge his contributions.”
