The Notice of Race has been published and registration is now open for the 2027 BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival, set for March 29 through April 4 at Nanny Cay, Tortola.
Five days of racing will once again take sailors through the spectacular waters and islands of the British Virgin Islands. Using a combination of islands and buoys, the international race management team will create a varied program of sheltered course racing and round-island racing for nine classes across two fleets.
The Sailing Festival begins Tuesday, March 30, with the Scrub Island Invitational Race, followed by the Nanny Cay Cup Round Tortola Race on Wednesday, March 31. After a lay day on Thursday, the three-day BVI Spring Regatta gets underway Friday, April 2.
Sailors may enter the two-day Sailing Festival, the three-day Spring Regatta or combine the two for all five days of racing.
The event welcomes a broad international fleet, from high-performance monohulls and multihulls to bareboats and charter entries. For sailors who want to participate without bringing their own boat, charter opportunities range from bareboats and crewed boats to fully prepared performance race boats.
The BVI’s geography remains one of the regatta’s greatest attractions, sending competitors around Tortola, Scrub Island, Salt Island, Peter Island and other familiar landmarks.
“For sailing and to experience all the different islands, you can’t beat it,” said Kelly Wharton, who competed in the 2026 event aboard a chartered Moorings 46 with a team from West Vancouver Yacht Club. “To say it’s a real sailor’s paradise is obviously an understatement!”

Away from the racecourse, Nanny Cay’s Regatta Village will serve as the center of shoreside activity, with bars, food, nightly DJs and live music, tastings, demonstrations, Moko Jumbies, art shows and more.
Nanny Cay Resort & Marina returns as host and presenting sponsor for the 25th year. Mount Gay Rum, a sponsor since the event’s beginnings, will also return alongside the Government of the Virgin Islands and longtime regatta partner The Moorings.
Entry fees are $200 for the Sailing Festival, $450 for the three-day BVI Spring Regatta or $575 for the complete five-day program.
